Rescued From The Pool

A large spider was rescued today from our pool. He would have likely drowned but our son Tim saved his life. We think it's a Wolf Spider.

A Drive To Our Box In USA

We hoped to do a little  visiting after our quick trip to USA to fetch a part from my mailbox which I needed to fix our Toro riding lawn mower steering.

I found it difficult to walk up from the visitor parking lot today knowing what I might have already known. Three years ago we sold our beloved condo. We knew it was going to happen. The condo executive were sold a bill of goods about the "membrane deterioration" over the underground garage.

The central gardens were a focal point of the condos and since cars parked underground, the view was particularly beautiful...

Above from 2013-14. The gardens still look nice although a few large trees had already come down to "help save the membrane".

Wendy covers her mouth, aghast! We were in shock. Wow! The gardens are gone! Glad we sold I guess. We turned around and left without visiting anyone. We couldn't have watched this!

First Day of Fall and Still Swimming!

We've been enjoying the beautiful summer weather and the heated 85F pool.

I just couldn't bear turning off the pool heater the sun was so warm and bright. Alas, the leaves are beginning to fall and summer ends so...

We'll see what this week brings.

Mr. J. (Janus) 'Two-Faced' Trudeau

Girl Squirrel

Pool Heater Back ON

Monday, the forecast was so good, I turned the pool heater back on and have been using the pool all week.

 I just can't let go of summer but the leaves are starting to fall so that might force me to close. We'll see!

PGA Tournament In Our Back Yard.

I wandered out to our back yard boundary and snapped a pro golfer winding up for a shot from the 17th fairway behind our house. Everything is SO green this year!

Weird Spider

Wendy discovered an unusual spider in the back yard. Quite small at about 7mm long. Having trouble finding this one on Google images.

I snapped these pics this AM and contacted my friend professor Kee Dewdney. I know he will be able to identify it.

In this shot of the underside you can see the silk coming out of the spinneret. I think it's called a "Star Spider". Will update when I hear from Kee.

UPDATE from the Professor:

Dear Tim,

Pat and I call that one the Teapot Spider because of its unusual abdomen. In reality it has the common name of Spined Micrathena (Micrathena gracilis). They can be a nuisance [at Newport Forest] because of their habit of building webs across trails. One then has the option of ducking under without damaging the web or walking through it, only to be accompanied by the giant but fading sound of spider-swearing.

MullBain Lodge September 2019

We drove to MullBain Lodge arriving Friday afternoon and departing Sunday morning so you will see from the following pictures, we packed a lot of fun into the two-night stay.

We arrive at MullBain just as the road grading is completed. We drove in on "virgin gravel".

Can't believe we were skunked! EVERYBODY catches fish on Wood Lake!

Are we supposed to put oil in with the gas? Yes John, it's a two-stroke! Oh oh! This is year three running with no oil. Seems to work fine.
