Opening the Pool After A Long Winter

This water is about as dark a green as I’ve seen it, but we usually open in May. The very worst was the year we moved here 20 or so years ago. We were shocked and surprised when we found a bloated, drowned skunk under the cover. P.U.!!!

When we removed the safety cover, the pool was nearly right full of green-black smelly water. Even though we drained it back down to below the water returns in the fall, the heavy snow melts and the spring rains had re-filled it to nearly overflowing. It was particularly green because we left it fermenting until June. It always amazes me to see the incredibly dirty water turn back to clear within a matter of hours once the filter and chlorine start to work..

Vacuuming while we send the extra water to drain takes a lot of the sediment with it.










In 3 hours or so, the water starts to clarify.

It's so amazing, but by 8pm it looks like you could go for a dip!

Harold's New Boat Finally Arrives

The new landing (to the left of the Phoenix) was all ready for the arrival of the luxurious, brand new, 52 foot Searay.

Our boating neighbour Harold and his lovely wife Ester brought their brand new pride and joy 'Final Purchase IX' to it's berth beside the Phoenix.

New Lifters For My Dinghy

I bought a set of these lifting tabs for my dinghy. They are called simply "Lifters" and were quite easy to install. What a difference. The boat now stays on plane at a lower speed for a more comfortable ride. The bow doesn't rise up nearly as much coming out of the hole and planing is accomplished much quicker. There is no need to lean forward. I think it should plane three people now. (barely possible before) The boat also seems more stable, riding like a heavier boat and is smoother in waves since I can reduce speed while maintaining the plane.

Oldsmobile Ride Back to Point Edward

The ride back to the condo was peaceful and pleasantly uneventful. The old Oldsmobile merrily buzzed along at 55 mph.

Doug, Daphne, Douggie and Sarah Arrive for a Sail

Wendy's brother Doug and his family arrived around 1pm for a sail on the lake.

We began to worry about them as the storm approached.


Eighty-five kilometer winds rocked our boat in the marina. Luckily our sailing relatives were back, safetly tied up when the tempest broke. We learned later that funnel clouds were sited at numerous places inland.

This is Joyce who was waving to Wendy in the middle of my movie production extravaganza.

In the first video with the car, you can see our friend Joyce in the pink outfit waving to Wendy from beyond the Batmobile. Leave it to Wendy to talk to Joyce through the middle of my premiere movie production!

In the second movie, a radio announcer is interviewing George Barris and yours truly is 'filming' the event. A rare opportunity indeed.

The nice thing about this small town, big event is that unlike a place like Toronto, you can actually get up close to the stars and talk to them if you want. The helicopter actually landed right in a circle of a few hundred people. Maybe the security is a little risky but WOW, you can see, hear, and smell the action. I'm sure in a big city you'd never get close!

There was a neat steam shovel demonstration that I thought you might like to see. Notice that the truck tailgate release seemed to jam up and the sand would not come out.



Batman, Catwoman, and George Barris actually arrived in the Batcopter!

They transferred to the Batmobile for the short ride to the celebrity tent. Steve Plunkett invites stars each year to stay in the mansion during the show weekend.
