A Lovely Weekend At Brad And Denise's Home Near Belleville

We arrived on schedule at around 1:30 pm on Friday.

Colton, Mitchell, Irene and little 20 month old Ava arrived later that night.

Saturday was a lovely, sunny day in the high twenties.

I brought a floating Bluetooth speaker which proved to be a popular item, playing summer tunes as it bobbed around the pool.

We also tried out a pair of floating, plastic glasses that I figured would be good around the pool.

Above: Mitch gets the floating speaker going. Below: Denise, Wendy and Brad around the pool.

Ava, Irene and Colton on the upper deck which overlooks the back yard and pool.

Little Ava was the star of the show. What a cutie!

Good food and lots of good conversation rounded out the day (and night as we stayed up until midnight).

2000 Pursuit Denali 2860

On Sunday morning the kids departed for home in Toronto and we drove to the marina a Wapoose to embark on Brad's new 28 foot Pursuit for a fabulous ride. Thanks Brad!

Barely any wind and the temperature in the high twenties (80 F). A perfect boating day.

It was certainly nice to get out on the water again this summer.

Above: That's me, enjoying the ride.

It all ended too soon though and Monday we left around 9 am and drove a fairly uneventful ride back home, covering the distance in about 4 hours.

Back home in London.

My Little Panasonic DMC-ZS60 Camera

Wow! Here's the zoom on my camera:

The marina details are barely visible 2.2 km across the bay.

Click on the pic to enlarge it. Now that's pretty amazing for a little point-and-shoot don't you think?

We're Off To See Brad and Denise in Prince Edward County Near Belleville

The trip is almost exactly the same distance as MullBain Lodge near Bracebridge which we visited a couple weeks ago. The difference is that there is no 'back country route' to miss the Toronto traffic. If we're lucky and there are no traffic snags, it will be a four hour run. We hope to leave around 9 am on Friday.

We last visited Brad and Denise back in August 2019 so it's been three long years since we've been together. For those who may not know; Brad is Wendy's oldest of two brothers and he's the same age as me. Also there was Brad and Denise's two boys Colton and Mitchell and Mitchell's wife Irene and daughter (20 month old) Ava.

NOTE: Garage Sale 'Great Buys' Can Be Very Dangerous!

Wendy wanted this shorter extension cord we came across at a yard sale in Lambeth on the weekend. Sometimes you just need a shorter cord and don't want to lug out the 'big cord'. The female end of the cord had a replacement connector so I was suspect that it might not have been done right. We all need to be careful to check out used items we buy before we use them. You don't know who has been playing around with them. With electrical stuff, 'that great buy' could kill you.

Glad I looked inside the receptacle! This was a simple home job gone very dangerously wrong. You'll immediately see the ragged looking conductors loosely secured under the screws with split insulation and lots of exposed copper. Not to mention it's a 3-prong female and a 2-prong male with no ground.

Above: But that isn't the most dangerous. The KILLER is the wires are reversed. Notice that the white, neutral wire is connected to the brass coloured screw and the black wire is connected to the silver coloured screw. This could be a deadly mistake! Especially since there is no ground wire.

Above: I re-did the connection the correct way and averted a very bad situation. You see, if the live black wire is connected to the silver (common) terminal, electricity at 120 volts can be energizing the case of the appliance plugged into it. This could be deadly! Of course, the screws could have been reversed so make sure you check visually and with a voltmeter to confirm the configuration. A 2-prong cord is legal, but it MUST be done right or it could be lethal.

Above: Wendy noticed some serving tables that Donna mentioned she wanted so we added them to our yard sale purchases and will give them to her next time we meet up.
