John's Birthday 2021

My good friend John celebrates his birthday today. He's up at his cottage called MullBain Lodge in the Muskokas and has been inundated with Canada Geese.  In this video I propose a remedy. (Although you can see it's hardly working for me)

NOTE: No animals were injured making this video.

We've Been Had!

More lies and obscene spending as well as taxes like never before! More Justin Trudeau. More of the same.

GO SLOW Transit

Four hours to Toronto at an average of 50 km/hr or 30 mph. Wow! Now that's what our government calls "rapid transit"?

That makes it a pretty long commute for the 120 mile trip. 4 hours down and 4 hours back. And all that for $60. Whew! An 8 hour commute and an 8 hour day doesn't leave much time for sleeping and leisure. Maybe work-from-home isn't all that bad after all.

So we go from underserviced to now having two trains: Via Rail and GO. And since Grey Coach shut down this summer, we have the newcomers ONEXBUS and MegaBus both vying for our business at less cost.

I can't see this GO Train working, especially when the 3 other services can make the trip for the same or less fare and do it in two hours each way. I can't predict the future but I can almost hear the politicians now. "We tried to give you mass rapid transit from London to Toronto but the ridership just wasn't there."

Found An Old Picture From 1979

Yes that's Tim and Timmy over 42 years ago at Wendy's parents house riding "Howard's Toy". I can't remember the make of the motorcycle. I photographed the old print and brought it into Photoshop, reviving some of the colour lost over four decades. I don't miss the moustache but too bad I can't get my hair back!

Could this be it for summer?

I heated the pool overnight in anticipation of the forecast 30C sunny weather for today.

Well, it never got quite that warm but it was a beautiful day nonetheless. Maybe we'll still get a few more days before the leaves begin to fall. Last year we had our last swim on the 28th of September so there's still time. My calendar shows that we covered the pool on the 7th of October last year. Wendy recalls it was just in time for a huge fall of leaves right after. We'll see!

Maybe! Maybe! Justin Time.

Maybe, just maybe, he's smarter than he looks. Was it all just his vanity that made him call a snap election? Was he so enamored when he looked in the mirror that he thought all of Canada would rally to support him based on his own wonderful self? Were all his backroom mobsters and his buddy Gerald Butts on line and in full agreement with him on this drastic maneuver?

I'd like to think there was another reason. Maybe I'm just too wary of politicians to think that there must have been more driving this big decision. Is there a cat in some bag waiting to be let out and thrust upon us at the very last minute? Does Justin Trudeau and/or the Liberal puppeteers have some bombshell ticking away in the back room? Will they release some dirty political news in this last week that will positively ensure their victory on September 20th? Or maybe they have some well-thought-out plan that they have been waiting to show us that will forever change Canada for the good? Surprise me, please!

Maybe I am trying to give them credit for actually thinking ahead for once? Maybe I'm secretly hoping that all the politicians leading the world's democracies are smarter than they let on? I've always thought or at least hoped that governments only appeared stupid because we as Joe Public aren't privy to all the facts.

If it turns out that we ARE seeing the whole picture here; if their stupidity isn't somehow justified by soon-to-be released facts; and if the only thing our full-of-himself Prime Minister can really offer is his encouragement as a drama teacher, an actor, a puppet for the mob, buying votes with the CERB, then maybe we surely need a change.

I guess we'll find out next week...  Maybe!  But I'm not holding my breath.  I've sealed my mail-in vote in its three envelopes like a Russian Doll, ready to drop it in the mail box Monday. (and BTW it's not for Justin Trudeau!)

My Trudeau 'Artoon' For Today

Inflation is actually low.

Soaring supermarket prices are eating away at wage gains and have stressed out working-poor families who allocate a high percentage of their incomes to basic and essential items. The Biden administration finally acknowledged inflation as a real concern but didn't blame the trillions of dollars in fiscal and monetary policies and labor shortages on increased food inflation.

Bond King Jeffrey Gundlach summed up the idiocy of The White House's spokesperson perfectly: "...if you take out the items that are up a lot, troubling grocery inflation would be lower."
