Halloween is for Cats and Kids and Everybody Else.

 Let the weight-gain begin...

Benz loves his Halloween necklace. He struts around like a proud lion.

When the neighbours came to the door with the 2 kids and the little dog, Benz ran to the door and watched them in awe. He does seem to enjoy Halloween, even though we only got less than a dozen Trick-or-Treaters this year. Oh well more candy for us. Hahaha!

Closing Erin's Pool

Closing Erin's Pool

Tools

Monkey wrench

Flat and Phillips screwdrivers

Hand pump

Steps to close:

1.      Unplug the chlorinator

2.      Unplug the heater.

3.      Turn off the gas to the heater.

4.      Backwash the pool filter until the pump sucks air.

5.      Unplug the pump.

6.      Use hose to siphon off remaining pool water to 'below the return'.

7.      Remove and store the chlorinator element and control box.

8.      Shut off the valve to the pump

9.      Remove and clean the pump basket.

10. Remove the drain plug on the front of the pump with the flat screwdriver.

11. Remove the cap on the bottom of the sand filter.

12. Use the basket for plugs and caps and loose items you'll need in Spring.

13. Move the handle on the filter selector valve to winterize.

14. Undo the pipe connections to the pump and the heater in the pool shed.

15. Insert the hand pump's rubber hose into the 2 underground pipes and remove most of the water.

16. Make sure the hose returning from the heater is clear and lower than the heater inlet/outlet to allow it to drain.

17. Remove and store away the pool ladder using the Phillips screwdriver.

18. Clean and store away the pool blanket.

19. Scoop out all the leaves etc.

20. Cover the pool with the winter cover using the deck clips. (12 +12)

Happy Halloween!

A Beautiful Day For Carving Pumpkins

It was such a beautiful day on Friday with temperatures up into the 70's. Erin came over and we carved our pumpkins:

Wendy saved the seeds to roast later.

Intricate AI

These are large files and may take a minute to load:

I used the prompt: 1960's, elaborate Psychedelic airplane, in the style of a Psychedelic Illustration, steampunk style

Click on the image to see the fine detail. It was generated in a very high resolution and took about 3 -4 minutes to make.

Below are a few more Hi Res Images from the depths of the AI's mind:

TAP ON THE PICTURE FIRST then expand it to really see the fine details.

And here's (below) a quick Hi-Res of some figment of the AI's brain:

Closed The Pool Today

That's it for 2023. Wow where did summer go? That was quick. Well, we got some good use out of the pool this year even though we had to put in a new pool heater last month. That kept the water nice and warm (nearly 90F) and we were still swimming on Friday.

I Asked A Robot To Explain A Joke . . .

I saw this joke on line and did not understand it so I asked the ChatGPT robot and it gave me this credible answer...

Me:

Explain this joke:  Well, if there's one thing I've learned from my daughter's first swimming lessons,

She's definitely not a witch.

The ChatGPT robot answer:

This joke plays on the stereotype that witches are often depicted as being able to float or walk on water, a common theme in folklore and popular culture. In the context of the joke, the speaker is observing their daughter's swimming lessons. The humor comes from the fact that the daughter is learning to swim like any normal child, and not displaying any supernatural abilities like floating on the water magically. The punchline, "She's definitely not a witch," is funny because it states the obvious (that the daughter doesn't have magical powers) in a humorous way, contrasting the viewer's expectation of something extraordinary happening during the swimming lessons with the mundane reality of a child learning to swim.
