My Car Accident Yesterday

Wendy and I made one of our rare ventures out, to Costco for some much needed supplies and change of scenery. Since COVID started we have been ordering in most everything but there are just some things you have to buy in person and who can resist Costco, right?.

Costco is always busy but we do try to go early and avoid the crowds. Wendy went ahead to return some pants and I was to bring the cooler bags and the cart. What came next was worse than the yellow-jacket sting a couple weeks ago.

With Injury:

I accidently closed the car door on my thumb! There isn't much that hurts more I thought, as with watering eyes, I slowly made my way into the store silently cursing myself for being so stupid. I can't even remember the last time I've been in a car accident but this one was one of the most serious injuries I've had so I guess I'm lucky.  I hope I don't lose the thumbnail.

This is what it spit out in a few seconds. NOTE: These are not just searched images. The computer actually created them while we waited a few seconds. No one has ever seen them before!

When we asked about flying cars, it showed us the above...

And it did know who 'Arnold Schwarzenegger' was... From what it learned in training, it fabricated these pictures. Wow!

And when we asked for the most beautiful place on earth it gave us 6 choices but it didn't say where they were. Do you know?

For the unlikely request to see "an astronaut riding a unicycle" we received hundreds of pictures, some are shown above. The potential here is truly limitless! You can ask it ANYTHING!

REVOLUTIONARY NEW TECH - Our Computer Loves A Party...

The world is changing faster than we can imagine. Artificial Intelligence will soon overtake humans in many tasks previously considered impossible. Art, music, movies... all will be replaced by machines. Never thought I'd see it!

For the very first time ever, I've used a picture that was completely generated by Artificial Intelligence. This pic has never been seen before by any human. It was generated in less than 30 seconds using my son Tim's powerful computer that was programmed, or trained to compose artwork without human intervention. The computer was told to make an image in the style of H.R. Griger, Dorothea Lang and Norman Rockwell. My only human input was to come up with a joke caption and put a border around the pic. Amazing, don't you think?

Stung By A Yellow Jacket.

Just got stung by one little yellow jacket around 2:30 pm. I was sitting outside and he must have landed on my shirt. I lowered my arm and must have trapped him. He got away. Little bug...ger!

Above: In fifteen minutes the tiny bite turned to a red welt.

Note the time. Two hours later. It's getting bigger.

Two more hours - this is getting weird. Larger still but maybe not as dark red. But it doesn't hurt much so we'll see...

UPDATE: Next day, Sept. 3, 8am - Nearly totally gone! Slight itch, very light, nearly indiscernible redness. Done!

Wendy Found Two Sea Pig Tee Shirts...

 While cleaning out an old cedar chest in the basement, Wendy came across these:

They are probably at least 40- 45 years old and appear to be in new condition. The old Sea Pig logo looks to be done by hand since the two are not identical. I don't remember wearing one. New Life For Your Faded Umbrella Cover...

By the end of the summer our red umbrella covers were looking very tired and sun-washed. Red is the worst colour for fading. I ordered new ones from Amazon but I was hoping to save them for next season. 

In the mean time we still have lots of  days of good weather left so I decided to try turning the covers inside-out. I was contemplating red spray paint, but this was far easier. What did I have to lose?

I started by cutting a slit in each pocket on the faded side. Be sure to stay inside the pocket area when  cutting the fabric with the scissors.

Gather the fabric and try to cut only the faded side. This will allow you to insert the umbrella rib into the 'wrong' side of the cover.

Above is the rib inserted into the slit in the pocket on what used to be the good side.

The covers reversed look almost as good as new and certainly better than throwing them into the garbage can. Hardly any effort required. They look pretty good if I do say so.

The seams and stuff do show up but it gives them character. Hahaha! Good to 2023!
