Workaday World?

 Our next door neighbour Gwyn called in a panic the day before yesterday. Her washing machine was overflowing... "Come quick!"

When I arrived I could see the problem. The urgency was increased by the fact her washer and dryer are on the main floor of her house so there is no floor drain. The hot and cold water shut off taps were corroded to the point they would not turn off. Good thing she was home to notice the problem and I was able to get to her fast or there might have been a lot of damage.

First I sprayed WD40 on the taps and was able to get them turned off. Emergency ended! Then I determined that one of the water intake solenoid valves (hot and cold) was not shutting off. I  picked up a new valve assembly locally and had it all back together the next day. 

Just another day in the life of a maintenance man!

Swimming Lessons

 A mother duck brought a whole flock of juveniles to our pool this morning. I guess the word is spreading. Looks like we need to vacuum the pool and hose down the deck!

The Ducks Are Back

 Now that the pool has stabilized completely with crystal clear water in the mid eighties Fahrenheit, our friends the Mallard Ducks have returned for a few visits. I can't imagine what they think of this 'pond' with its salty water.

Canada Day Garden

 Wendy has been working around the property planting and pruning and doing all the things a Gardener does. Here's some pics of some inhabitants of her new front garden where the big Spruce tree  used to be.
