Having a balcony is very nice because you can watch the ship dock each morning as the sun comes up. Wendy sees the beautiful coastline of St Kitts (St Christopher Island) as our ship approaches the dock in Basseterre.
Line handlers wait for the ship to position itself near the dock.
I wondered why the line handles were out on the piles behind the ship. It became apparent as a huge ship came into view after we tied up.
Royal Caribbean's "Adventure of the Seas" is much larger and it shades and blocks our smaller ship. These ports get busier every year as cruising becomes more and more popular.
Our cruising gang surprised Wendy with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card signed by all. What a group!
For $7 ea. each way our driver Duke Ellington drove Barry and Holly, Rich and Holly (a couple from Chicago we met on the ship) and Wendy and I down to Cockleshell Bay and Debbie's beach hut called "Loxseen"
We stopped as usual at the scenic lookout for a brief break before continuing to the beach.
Rich (fellow cruiser from Chicago) did some shopping and took a few pictures.
Scooby Doo was not here today but his booth was open for business.
This guy was ticked because I took his donkey's picture and wouldn't pay. Oops.

Loxseen Beach Hut was built by Debbie herself; with her own hands, so she says "Every ting is not level and straight."
The architecture is definitely "early Caribbean packing crate", but so Carib.
Rich and Holly are amazed at this place. We hope to keep in touch.

Back at the cruise terminal we pause for a cold beer in the shade before re-embarking the ship. It's very warm and humid at about 87F.

Later at dinner, Mark sports a tribal shirt from Tanzania.
Our waiters apparently do origami.
Of course there is the traditional cake for Wendy, the birthday girl. She wouldn't allow the wait staff to sing Happy Birthday though.
