A Bounteous Harvest

Wendy shows off one of brother Doug's fine Hubbard Squash and her own entire harvest of green peppers.

After baking in the oven and removing the skin, each half looked more like a turkey or something.  Hahaha! They barely fit in the oven.

What Happened To Summer?

 Summer's gone...

My Voip Phone Is Sometimes Very Annoying

"There, I fixed it!"

For some reason, every so often, both Wendy's and my cell phone(s) lose or change settings and have to be reset. I always thought it was something one of us did inadvertently but since neither of us have been using our phones recently, I'm now convinced there is something else going on. Here's what had to be done to restore the phones:

In Dialer App: Menu: settings, calls, calling accounts, all calling accounts: make sure turned on.

I'm placing it here on my blog so hopefully next time it happens I'll save myself a half hour of sorting through settings and come to this page first... That is: If I can find this page. Hahaha!

Happy Halloween!

Benz seems to enjoy his Hallowe'en neckwear. He ran around the house showing off for an hour or so. Pretty quiet here. We shut off the porch light but we rarely get any trick or treaters. The driveways are too long I think. Not candy efficient, and we have few little people in our neighbourhood.

Happy Hallowe'en everybody.

Olivia Rodrigo says Biden gave her a shoehorn and some M&Ms when she visited the White House

 My 'artsy' pic for today:

Such a cool dude! Did he smell her hair? "Let's go Brandon!"

No Eye Test, Even If I Want To Pay

Optometrists have withdrawn their services to people eligible for Ontario Health Insurance. Now, since I'm well into the over 65 sector, it's illegal for me to pay an eye doctor directly to have my eyes tested. It's "get it through OHIP or NO TEST".

Maybe, if Ontario taxpayers, through OHIP can't afford to fund eye care, it should just no longer be covered. This would allow the optometrists to be free to charge whatever they need to stay in business, like our dentists.

To deny eye care to those who need it most whilst you bicker would seem a little shortsighted don't you think?

I doubt my eye doctor or the gov. would like me taking my own test from USA but it certainly is an alternative if the bickering doesn't end soon. Scratches on my glasses are causing me eye strain and could be bad for my eyes. I sympathize with my optometrist but I'm bypassing our system and buying this $69 USD device and ordering  new glasses from Zenni. We'll see, or should I say "I'll see". Hahaha.

Summer's Over, Cover The Pool

It's always a bit depressing but this year, our second year of COVID isolation, it's especially hard to see the pool go into hibernation for another 6 months. We got quite a lot of use out of it this past summer.

UPDATE: Two days later on Saturday the amount of leaves would prove we covered it just in time. Checking the weather forecast last week indicated that the wind would change from the south to the northwest and sure enough, the leaves that were blowing away from the pool suddenly reversed this morning. Everything still looks pretty green back here but that will change soon enough.

Un Boxing Day

A frequent ritual now. Reducing shipping cartons ready for the curbside recycler.

Forget Amazon, we should have bought shares in the corrugated box maker.
