According to CuiseTT we are scheduled to be the only ship in port today.

We planned to walk to the beach within sight of the cruise ships or others might take a cab to the West End for some snorkelling.

BUT...

Today the captain gave us the bad news that the wind velocity was too high to enter the narrow harbour. He waited a few hours but the forecast was for ever increasing winds so we set sail for Belize instead of hanging around any longer. This turned it into another rainy "sea day".

Explore the ships art and enjoy not doing anything.

Even the lampshades in the Lido cafeteria were candidates for "artsy" shots.

OK, maybe not!

Today our suite became  a "Happy Hour" meeting place for drinks and snacks.

We passed a post card Caribbean island retreat with no other land in sight.

A strange island "in the middle of nowhere".

Today is Deb's birthday so the waiters made a fuss, much to Deb's apparent dismay.

We were so lucky to have John Calvert join us on this cruise. John is Louise and Marks old neighbour in York in the UK. As one of our oldest cruising buddies, John kept up with the best of us and seemed to enjoy the company.

Happy Birthday Deb.  Wendy had already announced that she intended to host everyone at the Pinnacle Restaurant on the 19th for the official birthday celebration.

Cienfuegos, Cuba

Again we are the only ship scheduled for today's port. Being Canadian, even though we have always been able to freely travel to Cuba, we never have. Wendy and I always felt it would be worse than Mexico food-wise and we don't like traveling to places where the people look upon you as rich, fat pigs as I'm sure we appear to them. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the one day stop to find out if I was right. Unfortunately HAL won't let anybody off the ship unless they have a ship-bought excursion so we'll see. I read on line that many Canadians are grumbling about being grouped as American, when we have no such restrictions. Oh well, only 1 port for one day.
