My 'Artsified' Pic For Today: Cheryl's Best Friend.

"Magic 2019 R.I.P."

I snapped a picture of Cheryl's wonderful dog Magic when we visited MullBain Lodge last year on Valentine's Day.  I forgot I took it until I found it on my phone that I was repairing yesterday.

My Bunny Artoon For Today

.

Google Maps Takes You There.

I was sitting by the pool while Wendy had a swim. I was playing songs on Amazon Music and Sirius XM when a tune came on and an album cover flashed on my screen.

The scene looked somehow familiar. I was intrigued by the country southern look of a north east Tennessee junction in the road, like I'd been there before.

I looked up the intersection of the two highways and sure enough it was right on a route I took back from Gary and Ann's place several years ago. I can't, of course be sure I passed this same exact spot in the road, but when I looked at the 'Street View' there was no mistaking the location.

Google Street View
Morgan Wallen's album cover depicts his home town of Kyle's Ford and according to Wikipedia, he comes by it honestly. Wallen's have been here a long, long time.

Wikipedia tells us

Prior to any European settlement, a few Cherokee hunted along the Clinch River. Longhunter Elisha Wallen (born 1732) and his brother Joseph Wallen (born 1734) explored the area in 1762. Later in 1787, Joseph obtained a 640-acre land grant from the state of North Carolina (#401) for his service in the Revolutionary War.

Over 50% More Cases of COVID-19 Since Last Month

Nine million more Global cases in just one month or over 150%. This ugly thing is NOT OVER yet!

If you go back and see, at the end of July we had just over 16 million cases. If you look at the difference between Canada and the USA; I think you have to agree, this is not the time to open the border.

A Family Affair Even Benz Could Be Part Of

With our continued self-isolation, over six months now, we fill some of our time with a 'new' pastime - jigsaw puzzles. Our good friend Linda recently dropped off  some good and challenging boxes containing 1000 pieces.

We are now into our second puzzle. This one looks really, interestingly tough, with lots of white space.

Benz was wondering what was getting all the attention and decided to check things out first hand, or at least first paw.

We are doing very well considering Wendy started with the first piece on Tuesday. We should be able to finish it off today.

The last few pieces.  Wendy does the honours.

Tim Jr. poses with mom after completing our first puzzle last week.

Our Pool Frog

Today there was a beautiful bronze-coloured frog sitting on the pool step.

He seemed to know how to get out of the water and back to the nearby garden without any help.

A Particularly Pretty Petunia

Wendy drew my attention to this particularly pretty petunia growing in a pot on our patio deck.

Curious Droplet Formation - Guttation

One thing about my isolation for the past months, to thwart total boredom, I have had to be more introspective, with lots of time to observe things on my own property. I thought I was seeing morning dew on the leaves of this plant. Upon further investigation on the Internet I discovered the phenomenon is quite common and is called 'guttation'.

It's not dew but sap expressed from the veins in each leaf as the roots took on a positive pressure over night. I just had to snap a picture.

CLICK HERE to read more about guttation, but we'll have to wait and see whether this is a melon or a cucumber. Time will tell.

Key West 1940's Colourized

Here's a picture my brother-in-law Doug sent of a Key West beach scene (from the late 40's judging by the black '48 Olds on the right) with the plate "TIM".

Although the original picture was quite small, I managed to get some colour into the scene. Hope I can get back to Key West some day.
