Our Waterfront Property, Lake Flash Peaks Out...
Our own private lake, levels seemed to have peaked this morning after unusually heavy rain in the last few days. Lake Flash, was so named because it tends to appear (and disappear) in a 'flash' and named after our old black cat Flash.
How nice is is to sit by the dining room window and enjoy a coffee with a lake view. Even if it lasts but for quite a short time.

We've Had A Lot Of Rain Lately
Ontario was hit by a weather system over the last few days that dumped as much as 3 inches of rain in some parts. Whenever we get a lot of precipitation the run-off accumulates in the side yard. We call it Lake Flash because it's there one day and gone the next. In a flash the lake appears and in a flash it's gone. When the water's up, you can paddle nearly out to the 17th fairway rough on the golf course in the distance. If you go too far you really should wear a helmet. No golfers out in the rain today though.
Not a lot of homes right in the city are lucky enough to have a beautiful pond complete with mallard ducks. When the water is gone, we cut the area with the riding lawn mower.
I thought it would be fun to add Wendy in Erin's kayak to the Lake Flash scene. Although the inclusion of the kayak in this picture is just a figment of my imagination, it could have been real except I was too lazy to get the boat out of the garage and inflate it for the shots. Ha ha. Photoshop was much easier.

January Thaw
This Canada goose seemed happy with the warmer weather. It was supposed to hit 50 F today and the snow has disappeared faster than it came. Click any pic to enlarge.
From our deck the greenery is amazing as the snow melts away before our eyes. You can see the green grass out on the golf course in the distance.
Lake Flash out behind our place is the name we gave it after the flash flood that causes it every time the snow thaws or it rains really hard for any length of time.
We took a drive downtown and parked near the "forks of the Thames" to observe the river. This roadway is often flooded by the rising floodwater.
It's nice to get rid of the snow like this before the next storm. People were running out of places to put it when they shoveled their driveways.

Hope For The Future.
Each day that comes and goes brings with it hope that this terrible virus will end. We are reminded daily of of the shortness of life and the frailty of mankind.
The reality is, for me, my life and routine hasn't changed all that much.
Sure, I feel sad that I can't visit with my good friends, but I'm home
with my family, we're healthy, well fed (so far), and have a beautiful
yard to while away our time.

Our Back Yard Is Looking Pretty Green...
Hopefully we'll get a little rain this week to keep things looking nice.
A view of our house from 'the fort'.
You gotta love the 'cowch' but it doesn't look really comfortable.
