Today I got my second 'most expensive screw'. Tooth #36 was pulled out last April and a bone graph done to build up the jaw bone to receive the new implant screw. A hole was drilled into my gum and the new screw and healing cap installed.
The screw has to heal and the bone grow securely around it before a final crown can be installed in three months.
UPDATE: Sept 23, 2020. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the appointment to finish this work was cancelled indefinitely. No new tooth for me and I'm out a couple thousand bucks.
