Twilight At Venetian Village

I took this picture last August from the dinghy. I liked the arrow shaped perspective of the complex on the calm water. The clarity of the silhouette against the regal purple sky, contrasted with the golden reflections of the sun all contribute to the simple, yet elegant beauty of the scene. We are going to miss this wonderful place!

Click on the picture to enlarge it.

Twilight: The soft glowing light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon, caused by the refraction and scattering of the sun's rays from the atmosphere.

I Call It Caribbean Confusion. But You Know That!

 More bold colours:

"Caribbean Confusion"
This "artsy" picture for today is titled after my favourite hot weather drink... "Caribbean Confusion". I created the comp from pictures of colourful Caribbean boats and their owners that I took on cruises over the years. Mostly St Lucia, Puerto Rico, and Curacao. You look puzzled. Ha ha. So am I! Even though it makes no sense, look at those colours. After a few rums you can't help feeling like the hotter, Caribbean-like summer weather is coming.

Spinnakers Up!

My "artsy" pic for today. Just to set the mood for summer I created a composite of 30 or so sailing spinnakers to make a colourful montage.

"Spinnakers Up!"
I tried two different tints, sort of vivid cool and sunny warm. What do you think? Click on the pics to enlarge them.

"Spinnakers Up!"
I think I'll have a Caribbean Confusion and dream of the summer days to come...

Cat Watching Horror Movie. Oh No, Not Cat Movies!

I had to laugh at this video featuring a kitten watching a TV in apparent amazement.

The company, Jukin Media is the same agency that bought rights to my "Cat Fish Bowl" movie with Dash a couple years ago.

RANT: Something Is Going To Break!

There has been so much going on in the world lately. Tensions are building everywhere. The price of houses has risen another 33% in Toronto and continue to rise throughout Ontario. This is not a good thing. Too much, too fast. The world economy is destined for a major correction. Trump keeps rattling his sword, albeit somewhat lower key than during the US election campaign but conflicts are escalating all over the world and I'm worried.

I created the "artsy" composition below depicting the fall of Trump. I do hope I'm wrong.

Will Trump burn at the hand of the Deep State? Will the establishment fire Trump? I honestly don't think the Donald has much chance of surviving politically.  I came across this article comparing the seemingly un-ending upward rise in stock prices, inflation and real estate and how this is so very similar to what happened in 1929, just before the stock market crash and the beginning of The Great Depression. CLICK HERE to read this eye-opening article. Are you ready for a crash bigger than ever before?

I'm not a Trump supporter. I live in a different country. I can neither vote for him nor any other clown they may come up with. We have enough clowns of our own and I am not impressed with any politicians. They all scare me.

"Go for it."
A TOAST TO AMERICA: Make America great again if you will. I hope you can, that's your business. Just work out your problems without taking me and the rest of the world with you if that wacky, "yuuuge", fireball dumpster that is Washington, crashes down to Hell!  Cheers and God bless America.

Lead Me Down The Garden Path!

Along the south side of the pool, outside the fenced area is a "secret" pathway out to the back of our property. I can see this path from our bedroom window.  Wendy has been working for several days at trimming back the Yew shrubs and cleaning up the winter kill along our wilderness trail in the city. The flagstone stepping stones beckon you to venture out towards the golf course in the distance. Soon the recent warm, spring weather will cause the garden to burst forth with greenery. Since we no longer have the condo in Sarnia, we are looking forward to spending more time here this summer. It really is a beautiful spot. You feel like you could be miles out in the country.

Sold "Carroll Healthcare Inc." 21 Years Ago

Saturday April 15 marks the twenty-first anniversary of the sale of my old company, Carroll Healthcare. I'm always amazed when it's "Googled" how many hits it still generates. CLICK HERE for the Google Search. And CLICK HERE for a Google Image Search.

The significance of this year is the fact that Wendy and I have now been retired for the same number of years as we owned the company which was founded by my dad and me in 1975 (42 years ago) and sold in 1996.

Holly's Dolphin Discovery

Barry sent a snapshot of Holly riding the dolphins. It was a little blurred but I worked on it a bit and added some banners etc. Above is what I came up with.

Here's the original shot.

Dr. Sarah Jane in South Africa.

Wendy's brother Doug sent us a link to our niece Sarah's appearance on SABC (South Africa Broadcasting Co). She and Calvin are living there and she works for Doctors Without Borders.

Here is Doug's email:
"Check out your niece on the major morning show in South Africa. About the swim she is competing in to raise awareness. Doctors Without Borders is starting to put her in the spokesman position. Watch the ad at the end to get in the mood to visit there. "

I detect a slight South African accent in Sarah's voice.

Another Nice Couple. From East Kentucky.

Animated is the word that first comes to mind to describe Danny. We certainly intend to keep in touch with him and his wife Teresa. Teresa is a nurse and Danny an engineer/inventor. They came with Holly, Barry Cliff, Abi, Wendy and me to the beach in St Maarten but we met them many days on the aft deck. Danny always has a good story to tell in his Eastern Kentucky accent and is never, ever stuck for words. Fittingly I composed the above gif animation for our animated friend from five or six pictures taken on the back deck of the Rotterdam on March 24 2017.

Danny and Teresa enjoy some tunes and some rays at the beach at Mullet Bay.

We Met A Nice Couple On Our Cruise

Click the pic to enlarge it.
We lucked out with our "table for 6" late seating assignment. Holly and Barry and Wendy and I anticipated a table for six because we weren't sure whether Cliff and Abi would be joining us or not. As it turned out, because Cliff and Abi prefer an earlier seating, we were favoured with the presence of Pat and Paul from Jacksonville, Florida. Over the two week cruise we had many enjoyable and witty dinner conversations and look forward to reconnecting again some day. We exchanged cards and will certainly keep in touch.

I have a few hundred more pictures to post this week so please come back and review the trip.
