Getting Old Sucks

My 'Artsy' pic for today.

Our next door neighbour's arched trellis is failing.

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

My Artsy Pic Near Waneeta Beach on Lake Erie

Yesterday we took a drive to get out of the house and explore a bit. We drove to Aylmer and watched the Tundra Swans in their migration north and on the way back I snapped this picture near Port Bruce of an old Greyhound bus deteriorating with time.

This Time I Really Hope I'm Wrong!

October I got pneumonia and was still recovering in November. Then December, and our cruise was cancelled due to Wendy having emergency eye surgery. Then Christmas. I don't even know where January and February went!

Still feeling the effects of the pneumonia bout, I'm lying low. With the threat of the ordinary flu and the coronavirus, with my lung situation, the respirologist strongly warned me to avoid getting sick.  I just can't risk public eating/gathering places right now.

As of today (Sunday) our whole family has gone into isolation mode. We bought another freezer, stocked up on food and essentials and we plan to avoid all or at least most social contract outside until we see how this awful virus plays out. We even cancelled nonessential doctor and dentist appointments and are prepared to sequester ourselves this way for several weeks (even months).

I hope with all my heart, our drastic measures are proven to be unnecessary and the virus never materializes in North America. The next few days and weeks will tell. Hopefully with the warmer weather and the end of the flu season, the virus will fade out and we can venture outside again.

For now I caution all my friends to try to avoid gathering places and interaction with people until we all know where this terrible disease is going.

Wash your hands and hunker down. I can't afford to lose any of my friends!

Today's Artoon...

Where's our fearless leader these days? He must be avoiding crowds and washing his hands like the rest of us.

Cold Comfort!

On our Family Day drive in the country I had to go back and snap this picture of a snowman next to the grave of somebody's loved one.

Stand by me. Rest in peace Amelia!

Getting Ready?

Of course we are all hoping this global pandemic will fail to materialize but just in case...

We have been stocking up on essentials and plan to stockpile some canned goods that we will use eventually anyway. If this thing does turn nastier, there may be a run on the things we take for granted. I just hope we are wrong.

I don't wish to over-react but last year was not a good one for me as far as lungs and breathing is concerned. In April the doctor diagnosed me with asthma and possible COPD. In July I was in emerg. with a pneumonia (possibly from aspirating something) and then down with another pneumonia infection in October which was cleared up with a powerful antibiotic. I really only fully recovered by January. I really don't want to catch the flu or worse as I know it will hit me hard.
