Happy Halloween?

Sorry Benz.  He loves Halloween.

Looks like we'll be 'locked down' for a COVID Halloween. We moved the Jack O'Lanterns to the back yard so as not to look like we're open and we'll turn the lights off so it looks like no one is home. How sad is that?

Oh! Oh! Our First Snow!

Don't panic! It didn't stay on the ground but I'm afraid it does foreshadow the weeks and months ahead.

At least snow ends the outdoor yard work. Ha ha! Time to get the snowblower ready with new oil, new gas etc.

From "'Fall, leaves, fall'" by Emily Jane Brontë:

I shall smile when wreaths of snow
    Blossom where the rose should grow;

Just For Fun Lucy

Sometimes you find a picture that isn't even square, but has potential for some fun improvements. This isn't a big problem for Photoshop since the program allows you to skew it back to its original shape. I found a picture of a card for sale on eBay and decided to play around with it:

Vintage Lucille Ball I Love Lucy Postcard 5" X 7" California Here We Come (Aired January 10, 1955)

Using 'perspective' and 'skew' in 'Transform mode' I forced it square again and with layer masks and 'levels' I removed some annoying camera glare.

Although I continued on, and turned the old classic into a sort of movie poster pic. It's okay but I think sometimes old black and whites are best left as black and whites.  What do you think?

My Good Friend Was Hacked - Not A Joke! BEWARE!

This is the letter that my friend David received and responded to when the hacker stole his email password and username:

Always be careful when receiving emails. Don't give out your password. You are better to telephone the sender using a number you know is correct and ask them about the alleged 'problem'. Legitimate companies and banks etc. will NEVER ask you for your passwords in emails and over the phone.

The hacker then accessed Dave's contact list and sent more emails to unsuspecting people.

Once the hacker had the email contacts he sent the following:

----- Forwarded Message -----
From: DAVID (email address removed by me)

Subject: Checking in HELP NEEDED

How are you doing ? Hope all is well with you?
Are you busy ? I need a little favour from you

Best Regards -------------- Dave

They then pretended to be Dave and asked me for a gift card:

My 2020 Vision - Better Than All The Analysts:

Talk about 2020 vision... According to data gleaned from my study of the intricate tracks of the Emerald Ash Borer, I have discovered I am now able to, with great confidence, predict the following outcomes:
1) The upcoming US election.
2) The future of COVID-19.
3) Moves in the markets and the economy to 2022.

Remember, you saw it here first!  To compare the outcomes with my insightful predictions, I invite you to check back with me in 2023.

A Country Roadside Stand

Our drive in the country this morning brought this scene to my camera.

.

I Love Your Mum!

The beautiful mums Erin brought over a week ago are still blooming in their radiant glory.

As the great manipulator and Photoshop, I didn't have to enhance the flower blooms, they were already perfection, but I removed the background and added  some subtle shadow for a very dramatic look. Great Halloween colours. Click the pic to enlarge.

The Dogwood From Our Kitchen Window

The dogwood leaves are bright red and with the rain glistening on them, I just had to snap a close-up shot. Hope you enjoy. Remember, you can click on any picture to enlarge it.

I Fear For The Good People Of The USA...

I am very glad that I do not have to vote for any of these clowns. Maybe there should be a discriminate age limit? Everyone that is old is not necessarily wise. My 'artoon' pic for today.

What Time Is It? It's 'Tim Time'...

Well, I've already changed my watch an hour back even though we are a couple weeks away from the big day. One thing that really gripes me is the biannual clock fudging, promoted by my government, meddling in my life in the name of the ridiculous Daylight Saving Time.

I'm trying an experiment to minimize the effects of this stupid infringement on my rights as a human. A couple of days ago I reset my watch, and because the rest of the family is not willing to participate in my mini-rebellion, I guess I'm on my own.

You can see that the TT Time Zone occupies a very small part of Canada

I've been, as much as possible, dwelling in my very own time zone - I'll call it "Tim Time" (TT). Today I didn't get out of bed until nearly 8 am TT. (9am your time) Amazingly Wendy also slept to 8 TT. I haven't been overly keen on delaying my usual Happy Hour to 4pm TT (which puts me at 5 your time) but I'll play the game. Since we can't really go anywhere anyway, TT so far serves my needs. I seem to be adapting well.

Personally I don't care whether they stay permanently on Daylight Saving Time or Eastern Standard Time. Just go with one or the other! Hopefully on the big adjustment day on November first, back to Standard time, I'll hardly notice any change. I'll let you know.

A Fall Drive Around Town

The leaves are beginning to look spectacular especially on this beautiful, bright, sunny day. We visited Greenway Park, the Coves, Woodland Cemetery and then Wendy's old family home on Riverside Drive. I took at least a hundred pictures. Here's a few:

Igrets at 'the Coves'.

We drove by Wendy's old family home site on Riverside Drive. Wow, the trees that her brother Doug planted are getting huge and in full colour.

The new owners finally paved the driveway. A dream of Wendy's Dad Howard.
