Flash relaxes in the sunshine.Our black cat Flash turns 23 years old on Monday July 16. I was in my 30's when we got him. He is our vet's (Dr. Staples) oldest living cat client. Flash is deaf and has lost his voice. He receives daily injections of sterile saline solution to keep him hydrated since he has had failing kidneys for the past few years. Our son Tim gives him 200ml every day. But he's still alert, loves to be petted and can still purr. What is the secret of his (161 cat-year) long life? I suppose no female felines (he was fixed at 6 months), no smoking or alcohol. No stress, he never really ever worked and he gets plenty of sleep. He also gave up mice years ago and he's never eaten vegetables!
