Last month our government decided to bid farewell to our old friend the penny. I'm not sure how seriously anyone has taken this yet but I think I have a remedy. The problem according to our finance minister was that the one cent coin costs more to produce than its face value . OK then, whenever the U.S. and Canadian dollar are nearly at par (or better), let's just go to the United States and buy all the pennies we need? Problem solved.
