We've been to Barbados so many times, both by ship and by air since 1977 that it feels like we are arriving home. I think I mentioned before that we first flew down here when our son Tim was first born. Well he's 35 now. Where does the time go?
As soon as we got off the ship we met our old friend Curtis. Back when I started this blog we took a cruise on the Princess Sun . I had arranged to hire a city bus since there was fourteen of us. Click here (or go to the "time machine") to read about that trip, nearly six years ago when Curtis was our driver.
There was two other ships in port as well as the mega-yacht Serene.
We agreed on a pickup time of 3 pm but before Chris left us he made sure we met a man named "Marvelous" who looked after our every need and took us to a place on the beach where there were rental chairs and umbrellas, and even change cabanas and rinse down showers with a bar serving cold beer.

Walking out of the cruise terminal we passed dozens of taxis , finally settling on a nice air conditioned van driven by our driver "the Original Chris". Holly and Barry suggested we go to Blue Monkey Beach . Chris advised us that the Blue Monkey no longer existed (although Barry
already told us that) and that in fact the beach was called Payne's Bay. This is where the cruise ship tours take you to watch and swim with the turtles.

Even the hawkers were very well-mannered. They were not persistent or pushy.
Another mega-yacht "Iatapa" was waiting for the cruise ships to leave.
