Day 12 Aruba

The Divi Divi Tree can grow in a desert

Today our ship docks concurrently with the Emerald Princess. We hope to meet up with David and Reenie who are aboard the Emerald and arrived an hour earlier than us at 7 am.  My old friend David is Holly's brother and I've known him since seventh grade. It will be nice to have a Heineken with him at the beach.

 At this port the Emerald Princess was docked in front of us. We knew that David and Reenie were aboard and we had already made arrangements to meet them on the dock at 9:30 AM.   Somehow there was a misunderstanding about the meeting time, so Holly and Barry waited behind as the rest of us (Wendy and I, Cheryl, Deb and the sisters Donna and Laura jumped aboard the city bus ($2.60 ea)  with our destination Eagle Beach at the Amsterdam Manor Hotel.  We were able to save two large beach umbrella huts  for the others (Holly, Barry, Jean and John, and David and Reenie) arriving about an hour later.

We noticed that the sun was exhibiting a curiously, beautiful, perfect ring. Could the Sahara Desert sandstorms that the captain had mentioned earlier be causing this strange phenomenon?  Winning picture don't you think?

A very personable young man named Wilbur was in charge of all the lounge chair cushions. Interestingly he holds a degree in business from an Indonesian university.
