22 March - St Lucia

We always enjoy our trips to St Lucia. This time there are 2 other ships (Adventure Of The Seas, Costa Magica) docked at Castries, 7730 passengers all together for the day.

Again we tried to contact our favourite old driver Guy James, "Short man" but were unable to connect after several tries to his cell phone. We found a courteous man named Ignatius Nelson of Nelson's Taxi Service. Cell 1 (758) 286-5421 or Cell 1 (758) 722-7209. ignatiusnelson1953@gmail.com

Rodney Bay was no different than usual living up to its previous reputation.

Ignatius Nelson took us back on a route "off the beaten track" for no extra charge since we had commented on the way to Rodney Bay that we liked to see other things than the main road.

As usual with Holland America, the ship leaves early at 3 pm so that we can cruise by the Pitons. This time though we didn't stop to pick up travellers from a HAL shore excursion, since the excursion was not offered this time.

The ship got in close to the pitons and cruised right by.

Since we didn't stop until dark as usual, we got to see the other side of these famous volcanoes.

For the first time we got to see the other side of the Pitons in daylight.
