It's always cloudy in the morning due to the volcanic mountains. The sun always wins out later.
The locals must be in really good shape because most of the residences are accessible only with a vertical walk.
Colourful old boats seem to gravitate here.
In case you forgot, this is Abi. Ha ha. Where will we go today Abi?
I think this freighter was anchored here last time we visited Grenada.
The French influence abounds and the island is very "Old Caribbean".
Our cabby using his cell phone took us through town to visit with Barry's good friend Lester. Lester, in his eighties now. Lester's cab was broken so he was waiting to have it repaired. He was truly amazed to see Barry.
Holly and Barry brought Lester a liter of maple syrup (in the Dollerama bag).
Even in death these people exist on the side of crumbling hills.
Here's a shore shot of my favorite freighter.
Franco, our cabbie, tookus on an impromptu mini tour.
These babies were playing beside a drop-off, no railings on the front entrance to a spice store where we stopped to stretch.
The seeds in the large pods are cocoa. The tennis balls are nutmeg.
Franco, our driver, who we met last time we were here, explains the spices.
The ladies sniff and taste the various spices that Franco explains.
Everywhere, people are drying spices in the sun.
Franco talks with Barry.
The roads are narrow, steep and curving.
Water falls provide wonderful fresh water to the island.
Lots of photo ops if you had time to wander around.
Cliff and I enjoyed the rum tasting at another stop to relax.
Franco drove us through the University for a good look at this amazing facility.
Barry wondered what the beach, Morne Rouge, more southward from our usual stop at Grand Anse Beach, so Franco took us there. It was certainly uncrowded and very beautiful as you can see.
Back at Grand Anse Beach we actually ran into some Canadians Sandy and Cal, that are from Bayfield Ontario and friends with our longtime old friends Susan and Mike. Small world indeed.
I remember this old dog from last time we were here with John and Cheryl.
The ship is visible from the Lazy Days Inn.
Franco took us back "the scenic way" if there is any other?
